Iran’s ‘Yalda’ to go on German screens

Iran feature ‘Yalda’ is to hit German movie theaters.

Iranian award-winning feature film ‘Yalda’ has been scheduled to hit German silver screens in September.

The Little Dream Entertainment GmbH has sealed the deal to distribute Masoud Bakhshi’s ‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness’ in Germany.

The announced date for the film to launch public screenings in German movie theaters is September 06.

The feature, which is a joint production of Iran, Switzerland, Germany, Lebanon and Luxembourg, has been produced by ifilm star of ‘The British Briefcase’, Ali Mosaffa.

‘Yalda’ follows the story of a young Iranian woman sentenced to death and seeking to obtain forgiveness from her accusers via a popular reality TV show.

Behnaz Jafari, Faqiheh Soltani, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee, Bahram Afshar, Fereshteh Hosseini and Babak Karimi are among the cast members of the flick.

The film has so far attended a number of global events and won some awards, including the Grand Jury Award at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival in the US.

The 55th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic and the PyeongChang International Peace Film Festival in South Korea are two other events which will soon screen ‘Yalda’ in their competition lineups.

According to earlier reports, besides being screened in Germany, the film is set to be premiered across Europe and America, beginning from September.
